Presentation of the Project’s Environmental and Community Initiatives.
On Saturday, February 22nd 2025, the Trocano Araretama Project proudly held an Open Day to present its policies and initiatives to the new City Hall administration of Borba. This significant event marked an important step in strengthening partnerships between the project and recently instated municipal administration, emphasizing shared goals of environmental preservation and sustainable development.

Preparation for the Open Day
The team worked hard in the weeks running up to the open day, getting all the invitations sent out to ensure awareness of the event was well circulated. The team members also dedicated a lot of their time to organising the materials, logistics and structuring and execution of the planned activities for the organisation and success of the event. Project Manager Jorge Felipe prepared a presentation for the event, including informative slides. Decorations for the meeting space as well as a buffet to be served for all attendees were also organised.
Key Attendees and a Warm Welcome to commence the Open Day
The event welcomed several distinguished guests, including Mayor Raimundo Santana (“Toco”), his wife, Deputy Mayor Antônio Maia Cidade, and numerous secretaries from various sectors of Borba’s administration. Their attendance underscored the importance of the project and reflected the municipality’s commitment to integrating sustainable development efforts into its administrative framework.
The event’s master of ceremonies, Mr. Marlon Castro, opened the event by expressing gratitude to the attending authorities. He then introduced the Trocano Araretama Project team, setting the stage for a detailed presentation delivered by the Project Manager, Mr. Jorge Felipe.

Highlighting the Project’s Vision and Achievements
Jorge led a detailed presentation outlining the project’s goals, activities, and anticipated impact on the municipality. Visual aids such as slides, charts, and graphs illustrated the project’s wide-reaching impact. Key points covered included:

- Professional Qualification Courses in Meliponiculture;
- Forest Fire Brigade Training Course;

- Environmental Education in Communities;
- School Garden;
- Signage.

Strong Partnerships to Drive Sustainability
Following the presentation, Mr. Marlon Castro closed the event by expressing gratitude to all participants. Subsequently, Mayor Toco commended the project’s achievements and, furthermore pledged his administration’s support to further the project’s objectives. His commitment reinforces the positive collaboration between the Trocano Araretama Project and the Borba municipality, offering promising prospects for the community’s sustainable growth – a partnership that promises meaningful benefits for the Borba community.
Community Exhibition and Sustainable Solutions
The Trocano Araretama team also curated a small exhibition highlighting two key initiatives:
- The Forest Fire Brigade Training Course, which has equipped local communities with vital skills in fire prevention and control.
- Products from local beekeepers, who have been supported by the project as part of a sustainable alternative income program.
Mayor Toco and First Lady visited the exhibition, where they were presented with honey produced by local breeders from the Caiçara community. The honey, harvested from the Uruçu-boca-de-renda bee species, was a proud symbol of the project’s success in promoting a sustainable practices that can generate alternative income for local communities. Mayor Santana enthusiastically expressed his commitment to supporting the continued development of such initiatives in Borba.
Enhancing Connections over Dinner to conclude the Open Day
To conclude the event, guests and authorities were invited to a dinner — a thoughtful gesture that provided an opportunity for deeper connections between the project team and municipal leaders. This relaxed setting encouraged collaboration and strengthened the foundation for future joint efforts.
